It has been a while since the last blog
post has happened. On Wednesday, we watched some not so good rugby. The game was SA legends vs. OD legends. The game
was definitely entertaining (lots of old men wearing rugby boots all chasing
each other were quite a sight to see!). Everybody was a bit out of practice and
made some stupid mistakes. The Grade 8
and 9 bathroom has also been closed off the last week due to a leak and we have
to trek all the way to the stooge bathroom on the other side of the house. We
get really cold walking all the way back after a shower and always check that
our bathroom is locked. We are looking forward to the interhouse rugby on
Saturday with a pretty solid team. After that the rugby season ends and we are
already starting with a couple of our summer sports.
Welcome
Hello all! You've come to the Grade 9 blog spot. Be prepared to get a good taste of boarding house life through our eyes when you check out our most recent news and pictures below. We hope you enjoy our spirited (somewhat mischievousness) vibe!

Smarter than we look...
We enjoyed a short week last week and the much-anticipated return of Matthew. We were very worried about him and prayed that he was okay. Everybody was very happy and the dorm seems fulfilled now with our great friend (No, Matthew did not bribe us to write this!). He has a much deeper voice now and is about 1 metre taller. Our dorm has excelled in school over the past 2 weeks. We enjoyed the cultural awards and academic dinner on Wednesday. Daniel and Stefan got cultural awards. Jordan was surprisingly the cleverest in the dorm and everybody was shocked that favourites Matthew and Taku lost to him. Gomes was stoked to get most improved with a 6% improvement overall and now can say he has been up to the high table. We also won the smartest dorm with a 67% aggregate and we enjoyed spending our 15 Rand Tuck Shop Voucher. But the the highest and most surprising academic achievement of all was Justin getting 74% for the maths test. He has been called the next Einstein!

Boynton's Return
Boyntons Back! After 3 weeks of extensive searching we finally found him and we are overwhelmed by his insanely deep voice (wink!). It sounds like he had a blast of a time in Sweden and the rest of Europe. Afolabi’s new name is Afogaga because of the sounds he makes. Also, he will be releasing his new hit single soon. Besides that, it's been a fairly chilled week since it was only 3 days long. Stay tuned to hear more about Afogaga’s single, 'Embrace the Afo'.

A Very Chilled Week
The highlight of the week was Maks appearance at Pops as a backstage helper. This is because of the on-going absence of Matthew Boynton. If he was here we would probably have had a dorm-mate with a bigger contribution with his musical prowess.
We finally have showers now because the solar geysers are now fully operational; this after weeks of having cold showers. We did get to play around with “Play dough” in Bio and make motor neurons. Other than this it’s been quite an uneventful week.

First 2 Weeks of Term 3
This week got off to a good start expect for Taku and Makumba having a bad case of ‘Bunkalitus’! It was so bad that they even managed to play soccer in the rain after missing two days of school. The left hand side of the dorm had been turned inside out while our windows were being fixed. Daniel played against Hereford, an English rugby team, who were convincingly beaten 66-0, WELL DONE! Also we found an updated version of Afolabi! Tibby-Tabby 2.0. in Mallet grade 8. There is still no sign of Boynton!? We think he might be in Sweden on scouts camp... or he could be dead :( Stay posted to see what happens to Boynton...

Weekly Update
Daniel and Jordan went on Cricket Tour two weeks ago and won both matches one against Grey P.E and against Woodridge where Daniel scored 133 runs!! Grant and Matthew went to East London on rowing tour and Grant came third in the B single skulls. Makumba went on basketball tour to Johannesburg and won a medal. Unfortunately Jonathan could not go on the tour as he picked up an injury shortly before the tour.
Jamie Bester, who is on a boarding trial returned for his second week in the house. He’s originally from Gray House and to our knowledge he likes it more here. We hope he stays.
Afolabi’s getting a Coke for apparently being the best fielder in the u15C cricket but somehow he was only able to take one catch on the day after dropping the rest. Stefan is getting a six pack at the next practice for taking a good catch at u15C practice. We hope the team plays better this week after our bad defeat against Wynberg.
